Experience versus ‘Experts’

Ask the Experts

No thank you.

Leg-iron, Frank Davis and other bloggers inject some reality into modern living when they rail against what the “experts” are saying at any given time, which is round the clock and whose “research” can be found in every mainstream publication and is generally manufactured by starting with a conclusion and making the “evidence” fit.

I turned fifty last summer, while Leggy is three or four years older and Frank is in his mid-sixties, so we have reached that age where we can look back over several decades and counter what these “experts” are telling us with our personal experiences after having lived the majority of a lifetime.

It’s like when you reach that age where you realise that whoever people vote for the government always gets in. The “better times” they promised consist of more taxes and fewer freedoms.

Frank has reported on yet another US Surgeon General’s report on smoking, which they say had previously underestimated the number of deaths allegedly linked to smoking (naturally) despite the fact that fewer Americans are lighting up (a report just out by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) claims that the number of Americans who smoke has dipped below the “milestone” of 20%). But Frank concludes,

What these people don’t seem to understand is that the larger the claims they make against tobacco, the lower their stock falls in the eyes of people like me, whose lifetime experience has been that smoking is completely harmless. Because I don’t know anybody who has clearly been harmed by smoking tobacco. Even my 60-a-day father made it to the age of 79. And some of us stand by our own experience, rather than by any US Surgeon General’s report. Some of us believe ourselves rather than believe ‘experts’.

From my experience, I know that some harm can be attributed to smoking. I knew two people (a man and a woman), sadly recently deceased, whose smoking gave them bad circulation in their legs (one nearly had to have a double amputation, but his legs were saved by surgeons transplanting veins from elsewhere in his body), but it is rare – in fact, almost impossible – to say that someone contracted a disease because they smoked, but both had vastly improved circulation after stopping.

One of the most well known examples of a “smoking-related” illness is throat cancer, however evidence has emerged that the number one cause of the disease in men under fifty in the West is oral ‘gratification’,

Researchers examined 271 throat-tumor samples collected over 20 years ending in 2004 and found that the percentage of oral cancer linked to the human papillomavirus, or HPV, surged to 72 percent from about 16 percent, according to a report released yesterday in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Yet, while the Government/EU insists that manufacturers of tobacco products put grotesque images on their packaging, the same bunch of people promote an ‘anything goes’ society sex-wise.

Heavy drinking can also produce throat cancer as can a number of other factors.

Today, Leg-iron (a microbiologist with a PhD) suggests that the “war on the obese” has been linked to smoking by the most appaling abuse science has ever endured.

The “experts” say that secondhand smoke damages the health of others. Of course, the mainstream news rarely mentions the studies which demonstrate otherwise, yet the pub and hospitality industries have been viciously attacked by smoking bans nevertheless and millions of social lives ruined, because the policy makers follow the orders from the EU and UN whose information comes from unelected Tobacco Control.

Same with climate change. I have noticed generally milder winters since I was a child, but history shows us that the climate changes with time and previously, at least, this cannot have been down to human influence. The Romans had vineyards in Britain up until 1,600 years ago. Some say they extended as far north as Northumberland.

The planet has not been warming for over a decade and it is becoming increasingly clear that climate change is being used as a weapon to help create a World Government through global taxes and legislation.

Those of us with vivid memories of the 70s can recall when “experts” predicted that a new ice age was the threat. And some are suggesting it again. The Express has just announced that an ice age is on the way as scientists fear the Sun is ‘falling asleep’.

Back in the Seventies, we didn’t have “anti-bacterial” cleaning agents. We played in the dirt and ate with dirty fingers and nobody died. We ate sweets almost constantly (as pocket money would permit) yet there was rarely an obese child nor one with attention deficit disorder or the likes.

What went so wrong? Why didn’t the “experts” do something about it? Because they were too busy inventing the next scare story.

Now, like Frank, I don’t believe a word the “experts” tell us. The opposite is more likely to be true, although they keep changing their opinion. I remember when eggs were good for you, then bad for you, then good for you, then bad for you. Not sure what their current status is. Why not just eat them and not care? What worries me is that nearly all the big supermarket chains allow their egg producers to raise their hens on genetically modified feed.

But the more scare stories there are, whether related to health, safety, the climate, terrorism, paedophilia, the myth of overpopulation or people simply being annoyed, the more control can be exerted on us – for our own good, naturally. New laws can be enacted to stop people exchanging ideas, regulating what we can and cannot do, even on our own premises, and raise taxes.

Here is an example of how the Government uses children to get to adults:

And here is an example of veiled threats:
